Proofreading & Editing

Already have your copy but feel it isn’t quite right?

Or maybe you just need a second opinion. My copy-editing and proofreading services are here to make sure that your content is at its best.

Errors in spelling and grammar break the flow of text which will distract your readers from what you are trying to communicate. A professional editor will fix errors and inconsistencies so that your message is clear, accurate, and consistent.

I provide proofreading and copy-editing services for documents such as marketing materials and business and technical documents.

Copy-editing

For projects that are still in the early stages and not yet ready for publication.

Copy-editing is the process of taking content from the draft stage to being fit for purpose and ready for publication.
I will help you to get your content into shape by:

  • Identifying errors in spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Looking at clarity and readability
  • Checking for consistency (e.g. in word usage, contents, style, structure and tone of a document)

Fact-checking

As part of my basic copy-editing service I will check that information such as names, dates, and web links are correct and query any facts or details that seem incorrect. If you would like me to conduct more extensive fact-checking or research, this can be added on as an extra cost.

Proofreading

For projects which are in their final layout and ready for publication.

Proofreading is your final quality check just before a document goes out into the world. I will make sure your content is ready to go, either by giving you the thumbs up or suggesting any changes that need to be made.

My proofreading service includes:

  • Identifying errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Looking at format (e.g. checking for inconsistencies in the use of fonts, headings, paragraphs, and layouts)
  • Checking cross-references and making sure that page numbers and headings match up to the table of contents
